How to play Undressed by Sombr
Undressed by Sombr (Shane Michael Boose) is one of the hit singles from his 2025 album I Barely Know Her. Going viral on Tik-Tok, it created a global audience for Boose. Undressed features a repeating bass riff, a simple lead melody and a chord progression with some variety, making it an ideal song for learner electric players.
Chords: Am G Fmaj7 F/A F C C/E Dm E7
What does F/A and C/E mean? Chord symbols with a / followed by another letter name tell us the chord has a bass note that is not the tonic note; ‘F/A’ means ‘F over an A bass’ ; ‘C/E’ means ‘C over an E bass’
Do I have to use the F bar-chord? No, if you can’t manage the bar-chord, use the F/A shape. The bar-chord gives us the low F bass note we hear in the recording but it’s not essential for chord accompaniment.
Pick or Fingers? Pick will be best, although you could adapt it to finger-style on acoustic guitar.
Acoustic or Electric? Electric guitar ideally but Undressed will also work on steel-string acoustic.
Do I need a capo? Not unless you need to raise the key to suit your vocal. Undressed is in the key of A Minor and the suggested chords are all within the first three frets.
Lead guitar : the lead melody is heard in the intro and then once again after the first Chorus. Play it with lightly palm-muted downstrokes and use a little reverb to emulate the recorded guitar sound.
