How to turn on Original Sound for Musicians in Zoom
When having an online lesson, itβs important to switch off the noise cancelling features in your meeting software so your teacher can hear your guitar properly!
Turning on βOriginal Sound for Musiciansβ is easy once itβs all set up, but itβs a little different on a PC or Mac, or on a phone or iPad.
On a phone or ipad
Setting up before your meeting:
1- Click on βMoreβ : Down the bottom right corner of the app, before you start a meeting, click the βMoreβ button (It looks like 3 dots!)
2- Click βMeetingsβ : About halfway down the page is βMeetingsβ
3- Click βUse original Audioβ : Make sure this option is switched on
During your meeting:
4- Head to βMoreβ : Once youβve started your meeting, down the bottom of the screen, on the far right, is the βMoreβ button. (It looks like 3 dots)
5- Click βEnable original soundβ : Youβll need to do this step each time you start your lesson. (But not steps 1-3!)
On a mac or pc
Setting up your meeting:
1- Head to settings: Click the little gear icon in the top right of the zoom home screen
2- Select βAudioβ: On the left of the settings screen is a list, select βAudioβ
3- Choose βAudio Profileβ: About halfway down the screen is the option to select audio profile. Choose βOriginal Sound for musiciansβ. Only βEcho cancellationβ should be ticked below.
During your meeting:
4- Switch on Original Sound: Join the zoom meeting with your teacher. In the top corner of the screen should be an option to turn on original sound for musicians. Youβll need to do this at the start each lesson (But only this step, not steps 1-3!)
