Modern Guitar Tuition is a dedicated guitar tuition business that offers high quality tuition by established teachers. The principal teachers are Michelle Nelson, Rob Moody and David Glavich. Other teachers include; Steve Ryan-Gledhill and Andrew Cleak. Between the different teachers, all styles of guitar playing are covered. Based in Box Hill it's central to Melbourne’s eastern suburbs and is easily accessible by road, train, tram or bus (and feet too!). The air-conditioned studios are in a commercial building, are well equipped and comfortable all year round and the teachers are not compromised by being part of a retail enviroment.

We specialize in:

Nu Rock - The Strokes, Jet, The White Stripes, Black Keys, Linkin Park, Simple Plan, The Darkness etc… If you can’t find the Tab we’ll work it out for you on the spot
90s - Current Rock – Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Nirvana, Powder Finger, Pearl Jam, PJ Harvey, Blink 182, Greenday, Offspring, Foo Fighters, Jack Johnson, John Mayer, etc…
Classic Rock and Blues – AC/DC, Beatles, The Eagles, Cream, Led Zepplin, Deep Purple, The Stones, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, etc.

Acoustic fingerpicking and rhythm styles
Pop and Folk rhythm and fingerstyle playing that is the basis of so many big Pop hits from the 60s to current. From Neil Young & Bob Dylan to Tommy Emmanuel, etc.

Modern Plectrum Style – Reading music and learning correct technique in both hands. All standard recognized texts. Blended with Rock/Pop & Jazz material.

Classical Guitar – Beginners to advanced. Attention to technique and interpretation a specialty. Exams if desired. All standard recognized texts. Guiliani, Sor, Sagreras, etc. Blended with modern fingerstyle Jazz, Blues and Folk material if desired.

Beginners to advanced
We teach all levels across all age groups. Don’t worry if you are a complete beginner – that is what we are here for. You don’t ‘have to know a bit' before you start having lessons as we have many years experience guiding people from novice level through to competent hobby level and beyond. We also teach many students undertaking more formal training in VCE, ANZCA & AMEB examinations. Our students have achieved excellent results in assessments, ranging from preliminary to grade eight and VCE.
